WHAT IS A REGIONAL BLEND?
In the coffee world, a blend typically refers to combining beans from different origins after roasting, packaging them as a single product. At BUNN, this has been our approach with all of our blends. We’ve often used beans from Brazil, Guatemala, and Ethiopia to craft blends that provide a consistent flavor profile year-round at an accessible price.
However, we’re moving away from this approach. Going forward, our “blends” will no longer be created by mixing beans from different origins post-roast. Instead, from now on, they will contain Regional Blends.
What is a Regional Blend?
Unlike traditional blends made at the roasting facility, regional blends are composed of beans harvested and combined at origin — often at coffee cooperatives or washing stations — from multiple farms within the same region. Since they’re grown in the same area, the beans naturally share a similar flavor profile. As a result, regional blends offer a consistent taste balance without needing post-roast blending.
Note: Although these beans are bagged at origin and come from a single region, they don’t meet our internal definition of “Single Origin” — because they are not from a single farm, but rather from multiple farms within the same area
